PH wins overall total of 1 Silver and 5 Bronzes
Out of the 315 submitted Philippine entries (the biggest since 2008), this year’s Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity awarded the country with 6 medals in total, the highest number of Lions awarded to the Philippines since 2007. BBDO Guerrero | Proximity Philippines leads with 3 Bronzes and 1 Silver, while Lowe Philippines and TBWA \Santiago Mangada Puno each get one Bronze.
BBDO Guerrero’s campaign for Bayer Saridon won a Bronze in the Film for “Hammer”, Pound”, and “Stamp”. The winning ads can be seen here.
The agency’s “Bottle Lights” for Pepsi won Silver in Direct and Bronze in Promo & Activations and Media.
Lowe Philippines’ “Lorem Ipsum” for Hit Productions won Bronze in the Radio Lions category. Listen to the ad here.
TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno’s Nolan Fabular and Abigail Capa, the Philippines’ representatives take home Bronze for Young Lions Design competition, one of the many new additions to this year’s Cannes Lions. View the team’s winning work here.
The Philippines was the first Asian to receive an award from this new Young Lions competition. “After they announced the winners, the asian jurors came to us and congratulated us for making Asia proud,” shares Fabular.
“They gave us the impression that it’s bigger than us. The experience alone is mind-blowing,” said Capa.
A total of 16 Philippine entries were shortlisted across Direct (2), Promo & Activations (1), Media (2), Outdoor (3), Press (5), Radio (1), Film (1), and Titanium & Integrated (1) categories. Unfortunately, no Philippine entry made it to the PR, Mobile, Creative Effectiveness, Cyber, Design, Film Craft, and Branded Content & Entertainment Lions shortlists.
Ace Saatchi & Saatchi’s “Tiger Energy Playground” for Kraft Philippines made history as it gets shortlisted in Titanium & Integrated category, a first for the Philippines. The same entry has also been shortlisted in the Media and Outdoor categories.
DM9 JaymeSyfu’s “Mouse Deer” and “Dugong” were shortlisted in the Press category while the agency’s “Volcano” was included in the Outdoor shortlist. Ogilvy & Mather Philippines “Dave”, “Mark”, and “Joseph” for Vaseline Men were also under the shortlisted entries in the Press Lions category.
The Philippine Young Marketer team had to compete one member short since Justine Ann Gaurino had to fly back home for a personal emergency. Her partner Rodrigo Sotto competed solo and was applauded by the judges for his determination.
