Dentsu Inc. Tokyo dominates first set of D&AD Pencil winners

LONDON – Dentsu Inc. Tokyo emerged as the top winning company in the first set of Pencil winners announced by D&AD. The agency won six Pencils for its campaigns, 'Life is Electric' for Panasonic and 'Get Back, Tohoku.' for East Japan Railway Company.

Not far behind is FRED & FARID with five Pencils followed by Great Guns and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne with four Pencils each. 

In terms of the ranking by country, United Kingdom is leading with a total of 38 Pencils followed by United States with 33 and Australia with 17 Pencils.

“Over 220 international creative leaders have come to judge the D&AD Professional awards this year and I am thrilled to see the range of Pencils on day one of results. Even at this early stage we are delighted to see the fantastic quality of work coming through from all around the world. Watch this space for even more tomorrow," commented Bruce Duckworth, D&AD President.

On April 27, the winners will find out which whether they won Wood, Graphite, Yellow or Black Pencil which will be announced during the awards ceremony to be held at Troxy, London. 

So far the Top 5 ranking countries by Pencils won are:

United Kingdom - 38 Pencils
United States - 33 Pencils
Australia - 17 Pencils
France - 9 Pencils
5= Japan, Singapore and Sweden - 7 Pencils

The Top 5 ranking companies so far are:

DENTSU - 6 Pencils
FRED & FARID - 5 Pencils
3= Great Guns and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne - 4 Pencils
5= Kinetic Singapore, Iconoclast, The New York Times Magazine, CHI&Partners, Ogilvy & Mather Chicago, Ogilvy New York - 3 Pencils

The total number of Pencils awarded in each category are:

Outdoor - 21 Pencils
Crafts for Design - 24 Pencils
