Question:
What do you think of an entry fee-free award show like AD STARS?

Answers:
It's about time. Award shows make a killing with entry fees. It's making a huge dent on our budget. Besides, the cost skews the work towards the West.

That's hard to keep up because you need money to run a festival. They need tons of sponsors. It's too early to tell if the model will work.

It's a good idea, but imagine how complicated judging will be once everybody finds out about it.

The entry fees keep agencies from submitting truly awful work. We still need barriers in place.

Seven A.D. wins four-way pitch for Resorts World Manila account

PHILIPPINES – Seven A.D. showed that ideas lord it over network size with its recent win of the Resorts World Manila account. The four-way pitch pitted the independent agency against DM9 JaymeSyfu, Momentum and the incumbent, ASPAC/Law.

"At the end of two rounds, we were told that we won the account and [Seven A.D] was awarded both above-the-line and brand identity," reveals Seven A.D. CEO Teeny Gonzales. "We were ecstatic!"

The Seven A.D. team has been with Gonzales since her ECD days at Harrison Communications. Following their collective move with her to DDB in 2006, they worked on the McDonalds account and the Ako Mismo campaign before their much-discussed breakaway last year to form their own agency. The Resorts World Manila win is a welcome boost for the compact group.  "We hope to be 'on a roll', so to speak, and win future pitches as well," says Gonzales.
