Dr. Sketchy's Anti Art School: Drawing more out of life by drawing from life
PHILIPPINES, MARCH 14, 2011 - Part of the movement to bring more life to the Manila art scene, Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School Philippines hosted a drawing workshop led by Carlos Celdran at The Office of Culture and Design, The Collective, Makati City.
For Dr. Sketchy's, Celdran had writer and former adobo managing editor Patty Tumang pose for twenty budding artists. While some of the exercises had her going through standards of life drawing, Celdran challenged his students to go beyond the form, and draw everything they see around the model. In one ecercise, students were made to draw Tumang as she went around and cursed at students. “Make an emotional connection with her!” urged Celdran. “If she makes you angry, show it!”
