TBWA\SMP and Publicis JimenezBasic strike Grand Kidlat, TBWA named Kidlat Agency of the Year

BORACAY – With a Grand Kidlat and three Gold metals for 'Correcting History', among others, in its haul, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno (in above photo) has been named the 2017 Kidlat Agency of the Year.

The agency's multiple wins for 'Correcting History' has significantly contributed in making CARMMA the 2017 Advertiser of the Year. The film was an initiative by the organization to educate the misinformed opinions of the youth about Martial Law by letting them know about its gory history straight from the victims' mouths.  

"To be honest, from anywhere around the world, it's one of the most powerful pieces of film I've ever seen. More than just the documentary, they applied an idea that dramatize the problem. I hope it does well in Cannes," said Alistair Wood, Chief Creative Officer at Publicis Manila.

Another emotional campaign, 'Globe Rogue One' by Publicis JimenezBasic, was awarded with the Grand Kidlat. It was a film created to promote the movie, 'Star Wars: Rogue One' but the heartbreaking plot twist tugged at the hearts of every Star Wars fan. The campaign also won two Golds in Craft for Best Direction and Best Editing, making Film Pabrika the 2017 Production House of the Year.

"I was delighted because someone has finally done an emotional advertising relevantly and extremely well. It's the sort of brief that every creative in every agency in this country get across their desk everyday. I think it's important that award shows encourage people that day to day, every brief is a potential award," commented Wood. "I can relate to it. Every creative I know can relate to it."

McCann Worldgroup also scooped a Gold for its road awareness campaign with 'hugot' for MMDA, 'May Huli Ba?'. Mayhuliba.com is a website that informs motorists if their vehicles have been tagged with a violation. Instead of simple 'Meron' or 'Wala', the agency inserted witty 'hugots' that easily resonated with every Pinoy. The agency also won the KBP Ad of the Year for 'Clairvoyance', a radio campaign for Xenon.


McCann Worldgroup Manila

Two more Gold winners in the Craft Category were Dentsu Jayme Syfu for NEDA 'Ambisyon Natin' and McCann Worldgroup for Bear Brand Adult Plus 'Hugot Trabaho Kaya Ko'.
