Awards: Merlee Jayme of Dentsu APAC, Biboy Royong of Dentsu JaymeSyfu are judging at Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE — The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity kicks off once again — this year, two Filipinos from Dentsu will be joining the juries: Merlee Jayme, former CCO APAC and “Chairmom” of Dentsu International/Dentsu Jayme Syfu and Dentsu Jayme Syfu Executive Creative Director Biboy Royong.

A seasoned judge in awards shows, Jayme’s many jury duties include last year’s Cannes Lions Radio & Audio Jury President, and this year’s D&AD Jury President for Radio and Audio.

Jayme is the first Filipino to be recognized as the Creative of the Year by Campaign Asia and the CEO of the year by the International Association of Business Communicators. She also leads Dentsu International APAC: Ad fest Network of the year 2022, Spikes Network of the Year 2021, Cannes Lions Regional Network of the Year 2021, and AD STARS Network of the Year 2021. She is known for her work that pushes insights and innovation. She has won major awards that include a Cannes Lion, Grand Prix for Mobile, Gold and Silver Lions for Outdoor, Grand CLIO, LIAA, The One Show, and D&AD pencils.

Meanwhile, Royong sits on the shortlist jury. His work on Smart ‘TXTBKS’ won the first Cannes Grand Prix, Grand Clio, Grand Spikes, Ad Stars Grand Prix, New York Fest Grand Prix, Cresta Awards Grand Prix, as well as the Philippines’ first D&AD Yellow Pencil. His work ‘Dead Whale’ for Greenpeace is arguably the most viral campaign the country has produced. He is also responsible for the country’s first AdFest Grand Lotus for the Vespa ‘Our Ride’ campaign. Royong was also recently inducted into the country’s 4A Hall of Fame Awards.

Founded in 1954, the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is the home of great ideas. For over 68 years, Cannes Lions has served as a convening force for the global creative community. The Lions, the industry’s most prestigious, coveted creative accolade, receive thousands of entries every year. The work is judged by over 400 authoritative, respected creative leaders before the winners are showcased and awarded at the nightly awards shows.
