MANILA, PHILIPPINES – As PANAta Awards 2020 reaches the final leg of competition, immense appreciation is expressed towards all the judges who took the tough task of reviewing and vetting the brand communication materials and substantiation papers of all the entries.
Its champions include first and foremost the head of jury, Ed Sunico, currently the VP for Southeast Asia, Unilever. He was joined by other corporate luminaries Ed Mapa (Entropia), Erik Riola (Firefly ELC), Chito Maniago (GlaxoSmithKline), Charisse Chua (Levi’s Strauss Phils.) Charmaine Canillas (Petron Corp.) and Jake Lugay (San Miguel Foods); from media and service related industries were Angel Guerrero (Adobo Magazine), Jay Bautista ( Kantar Media), Jun Nicdao (Manila Broadcasting Company), Blanca Mercado (Manila Times), Leigh Reyes (MullenLowe, Phils.), Patrick Cua ( Nielsen Phils.), Lucien Dy Tioco ( PhilStar Media Group ) and Rose Caparas (Wish 107.5) and from the academe, Marge Acosta (Miriam College) and Jerielyn Reyes (Polytechnic University of the Philippines). The other two (2) important collaborators are Ranji David and Laura Baeyens, both from the World Federation of Advertising (WFA) who selected the special award for the WFA Best in Brand Positioning based on international standards.
With a record participation of nearly 200 entries, it was more the quality, with 80% of entries making it to shortlist, which impressed the judges. It was a challenge for each judge as they deep dived into the insights behind the great creative works evaluating them based on the criteria of effectiveness and creativity.
“Amidst this unique backdrop of the pandemic, it is imperative that brand communication not only deliver a functional and emotional message but also help address a bigger social purpose” says head of jury Ed Sunico.
He further shared that “PANATA Awards 2020 had numerous examples of brands that are making a positive impact to the society. It is one of the more prestigious and unique recognition programs for marketing effectiveness in the industry and it is led by PANA, the largest organization of advertisers in the country. Award giving bodies like this keeps the industry at the forefront of communication effectiveness to make it always sharp and capable of responding to any challenge or crisis confronting brands and services. “
