Spikes Asia 2019: Philippine Agencies BBDO Guerrero, TBWA\ SMP, Havas Media Ortega and VMLY&R Philippines Bag Awards at Spikes

SINGAPORE – The best of APAC went head-to-head in a vibrant celebration showcasing the region’s explosive creativity at the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity. The 3-day festival was capped off in the best way possible – a visible and tangible manifestation of just how impressive Asia’s creativity truly is through tonight’s award show.

The Philippine agencies showed up at Suntec, Singapore and bagged some major awards, with the country bringing home 7 awards throughout the night.

BBDO Guerrero nabbed 3 Bronze Spikes for its “Recipeoke” campaign, an ingenious way of presenting various possibilities to SPAM recipes with songs that are just truly hard to forget. Its “Break Down in Crumbs” film for HORMEL FOODS INTERNATIONAL SPAM Brand wins BRONZE in Digital, while the whole “Recipeoke” campaign is also given a BRONZE in Digital Craft and another BRONZE in Music.

TBWA\ Santiago Mangada Puno brought home a GOLD in the Film Spikes with “Liliosa Hilao” for THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE RETURN OF THE MARCOSES TO MALACAÑANG OR CARMMA, a heartbreaking look into the minds of the Martial Law victims from an unforgettable time in Philippine history. It also brought home BRONZE in Design with “Baybayan” for the Cultural Center of the Philippines, combining pre-colonial Baybayin scripts with the modern alphabet in an intricate typeface whose origins tie deeply into Philippine heritage.

Havas Media Ortega was also granted a BRONZE in the Media category with “Project Save” for the Government of Valenzuela City, a life-saving campaign that makes use of establishments’ roofing as a raft in case of flood.

Radio & Audio

The last Philippine awardee was VMLY&R Philippines, winning BRONZE in the Radio & Audio Spikes for the attention-grabbing “Lending Voice to the Silenced” for Power Plant Cinema. The campaign aims to bring attention to the creatures that are going extinct, giving a voice to those that do not have it.
