It’s a HIT! Advertising sound mavens celebrate 20 years in the industry

PHILIPPINES, JUNE 16, 2011 – What happens when sound travels for twenty years? For leading Philippine audio post house HIT Productions, the journey evolves into an art—the kind that resonates within the hearts and minds of those it has been shared with.  Take it from HIT Production’s big four – Vic Icasas, Brian Cua, Dennis Cham, and Salito Malca— as they clue us in on the secrets that helped HIT make noise in every aspect of their acoustic journey, 20 years and counting.

From their first advertising project in 1991 to their most recent Cannes Lion, HIT has made its commitment to the art and science of sound crystal clear. And like many a great success, HIT’s journey required its people to make difficult and gutsy decisions—some of which even helped them change the face (and ears) of the post-production industry for the better. 
 
“There used to be a time when people would ask if we were either a music house, or a post-house—which was how it used to be in the Philippines. But for us, the question just didn’t make sense… and so we chose to be both,” reckons Salito, CFO and Senior Partner of HIT. Needless to say, the decision paid off. HIT enjoyed success in both musical and post-production ventures, helping it carve a niche as one of the first post-house-cum-music-houses in the country. 
 
On top of having mastered world-class sound engineering and recording techniques, HIT has also become a singular presence in some of the world’s most prestigious festivals. Among their most prized awards are nine 4As Audio Production House of the Year Awards, three Cannes Lions, a Clio, as well as a slew of other accolades that most post houses could only dream of.

When asked about their secret to success, HIT’s big four easily identified their company’s technical prowess and creativity. However, they were also quick to point out that their ultimate weapon was no less than an army of real, living and breathing noisemakers. “If you want to know the secret it’s all here,” shares Dennis, as he presents a picture of the entire HIT Productions Team in Disneyland Hong Kong. And no, it’s not Mickey Mouse.  It’s the camaraderie that binds the HIT Team closer, both as colleagues and family. “The team makes HIT tick. Here, two musicians who are bidding for the same project will gladly help each other out. That’s what makes everything special,” concludes Dennis.
