MANILA, PHILIPPINES – As 2025 draws to a close, Google unveils its annual Year in Search lists, capturing the trends, personalities, and cultural moments that shaped Filipino online curiosity throughout the year.

This year’s overall top trending list reflects a remarkable diversity of interests. Leading the rankings is Gemini AI, signaling not only the prominence of Google’s AI tool but also the increasing dependence of Filipinos on artificial intelligence for daily tasks and creative projects.

Beyond AI-driven searches, current events dominated Filipinos’ attention. Halalan 2025 emerged at #2 as the public sought information on the crucial midterm elections, while a series of late-year earthquakes prompted spikes in searches for updates and Google’s safety alerts.

Entertainment remained a major driver of search behavior. Squid Game, following its comeback and series finale, ranked #6 overall—proof of its enduring cultural influence. Meanwhile, Roblox continues its stronghold among young Filipinos, with its popular in-game variant Grow a Garden landing in the top three.

Filipino excellence also took center stage online. Tennis star Alex Eala topped the Female Personalities list and placed #4 in Sports, joining boxing icon Manny Pacquiao (#2 in Sports).
