Danish pair named Lürzer’s Archive Students of the Year 2011

GLOBAL – AUGUST 2011 – Zoe Sys Vogelius and Thomas Ilum from Denmark are this year’s winners of the Lürzer’s Archive Students Contest. The idea for FedEx developed by these two newly crowned Students of the Year 2011 thrilled the international Lürzer’s Archive jury consisting of Lucas Zaiden (Leo Burnett Madrid), Tolga Büyükdoganay (DM&B Vienna), Pavel Vrzhesh-Klubnikin (Banda Kiev) and Lürzer’s Archive editor-in-chief Michael Weinzettl.

The pair can look forward to receiving the trophy, for which no fewer than 43 nominated students had been vying with submissions of quite exceptional work. The prize: a sixpack of beer, which will be presented at the Cristal Festival taking place from December 7-11, 2011 in Crans Montana, Switzerland.

“The FedEx guerilla idea is definitely the most outstanding of all the work submitted, and also one that shines as a real solution for a real client. Simple, easy, cheap, and really, really strong. Yet I chose this not only for creative reasons but also to show other students (many of whom read Lürzer’s Archive) that an idea as simple as this can work just as well outdoor as it does in print,” said Lucas Zaiden, explaining his selection.

Eligible to enter the Lürzer’s Archive Students Contest are students from all over the world, who can take part at any time by submitting advertising motifs produced in response to assignments set by teaching staff or themselves. The pick of the best work is published regularly in Lürzer’s Archive. The winning piece of work is chosen each year by a top-caliber international jury in issue #5.

The award is a major leg-up in the students’ careers. The 2010 winners, for example, Samuel Huber and Oddbjørn Stensrud are now employed at top-notch agencies, Jung von Matt and Garbarz und Partner respectively. The winners in 2009, David Aronson und Juri Zaech, now work for Ogilvy & Mather Paris, and created this year’s Super Bowl spot for Dove.
