adobo Design Awards: The challenge for the best in design is on

adobo magazine, the country’s premier advertising and brand communications publication, is calling all creative professionals and students as the adobo Design
Awards returns to challenge the Philippines’ best creatives. Originally launched in 2007, the adobo Design Awards aims to champion the best designs and recognize the people behind them. Open to all creative enthusiasts, professionals, freelancers and students, the competition promises to up the ante and bring out the best of the best.
 
Eligible works will be judged by top men and women of advertising and design measuring up to global standards of excellence on March 22-23, 2012. New York-
based design strategist, communications consultant, and celebrated shoe designer, Brian Tenorio will head the panel of judges. Top ad men and women such as
Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer of TBWA/SMP Melvin Mangada, Chief Creative Officer of DM9 JaymeSyfu Merlee Jayme, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi’s
Executive Creative Director Andrew Petch, BBDO Chairman and Chief Creative Officer David Guerrero, and JWT Manila’s Executive Creative Director Dave Ferrer
will evaluate creative contenders.
 
Works will also be assessed by renowned designers and illustrators Dan Matutina, Robert Alejandro, AJ Dimarucot, and Yodel Pe. Top names of established graphic design studios such as Studio 5’s creative director BG Hernandez, Team Manila’s Jowee Alviar and Mon Punzalan, and Electrolychee’s Marcus Nada will lend their expertise to critique works.
 
This competition is a great platform for the best works to be celebrated along with fellow creatives in the industry. Students and freelancers will get a chance to
showcase their fresh ideas and be critiqued by established names in the industry.
 
For this year’s competition, works may be entered in two categories: Main and Theme. Works by professionals that were commercially released and available for
public distribution are eligible to be submitted in the Main category. The Theme category is open to all professionals and amateurs alike, freelancers and students,
both undergraduate and graduate levels.
 
In light of the renewed efforts for Philippine tourism, entries for this category calls for creative pitches to uplift the beauty and image of the Philippines thereby inspiring tourists and Filipinos alike to discover more about the country.
 
Awards Night is slated on March 29, 2012 at the Ayala Museum in Greenbelt 5.
