GLOBAL – GERMANY, OCTOBER 22, 2012 – Veteran art director Paul Stechschulte has been appointed as Arnold Amsterdam’s Executive Creative Director, making him in charge of creative development in the Amsterdam office, as well as global lead on the Volvo account. He will be reporting to managing partners and chief creative officer Pete Favat.
"Expanding the agency’s creative offering by hiring outstanding talent with fully integrated creative and technology expertise is one of our most important areas of focus," said Favat. “Paul is that next generation of cross trained thinkers – a digital native with amazing brand building expertise. We are thrilled to have him join the Arnold Worldwide team.”
An art director by trade, Stechschulte most recently served as executive creative director at Pereira & O’Dell in San Francisco. Prior to that Stechschulte was a group creative director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners for nearly four years where he was key in creating the international award-winning Sprint ‘Now Network’ campaign. In addition, Stechschulte has served in various creative capacities with W+K Amsterdam, 180 Amsterdam and Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami.
Achievements include reintroducing the MINI brand to the US for BMW. The highly successful launch did not include a single television ad, which is unheard of in the US automobile category. He has also developed award-winning work for clients like Nike, Adidas, Glenfiddich, Sprint, Nextel, Geek Squad, Virgin Atlantic, Burger King, EA Games, Carlsberg, IKEA and Method Home, Beats by Dre, Google and Twitter to name a few.
Stechschulte’s work has been honored by every award show in multiple mediums, from One Show ‘Best of Show’ to the Titanium Lion in Cannes. More importantly his work has constantly received recognition from the ‘judges’ of pop culture – being spoofed on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ and mocked in pages of The Sun in the UK. Stechschulte also serves on the Board of Advisors at the Creative Circus in Atlanta.
Stechschulte replaces Sean Thompson, ECD and managing partner, who left the agency in September after leading the creative output that established the Arnold Amsterdam office and the Team Volvo business.
An impressive array of new business wins – including clients like American Eagle, University of Phoenix, Kohler, and Santander coupled with global expansion are helping the agency attract top talent with a diversity of skill.
Arnold has made an aggressive push to become a talent destination in the industry. In addition to Paul, the agency has brought in other top creative talent recently, including:
Peter Johnson as SVP, Group Creative Director. Prior to joining Arnold, Johnson served as group creative director at LBi New York. He is best known for his work on Phillips, Sony, Mobile, Cisco, Neutrogena and NFL Fantasy Brands.
Craig Miller as SVP, Creative Director. Miller has previously served in various creative leadership roles at VCCP and Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, among others. He is best known for his work with Domino’s ‘Pizza Turnaround’ and ‘Show Us Your Pizza’, as well as VW ‘Routan Babymaker 3000’ and Coke Zero ‘Rooftop Racer’.
Erik Enberg as SVP creative director. Enberg has served in various creative leadership roles with Butler Shine Stern & Partners and Goodby Silverstein & Partners, among others, playing a central role in delivering on client goals for BMW MINI, Nintendo, Radioshack and Yahoo!, to name a few.
