China Unicom picks JWT Beijing

CHINA, JUNE 18, 2013 – JWT Beijing has been tapped by China Unicom to help further develop its brand strategy over the next two years and take on its full roster of brand management services. 
 
While JWT had previously managed the China Unicom account from 2006 to 2008, it continued to work, on a project basis, with China Unicom through the last two years. JWT crafted a series of campaigns that positively impacted China Unicom’s profile. This relationship played a key part in JWT Beijing’s win.
 
Tammy Sheu, JWT Beijing Managing Director, said that they were happy to be China Unicom’s long-term cooperation partner after the two worked together on a key program last year. Sheu added that they would work very closely with China Unicom to craft a powerful, cutting-edge brand.
 
China Unicom is the country’s second largest mobile operator, boasting 250 million subscribers. It added 11 million 3G-service subscribers in the first quarter of 2013.
