David Archuleta’s Philippine TV series gains worldwide audience

THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 10, 2012: What appeared to be a move to pull in more star power and close the ratings gap against network rivals GMA 7 and ABS-CBN 2, TV5’s mini drama series “Nandito Ako” (Here I Am) starring American Idol alum David Archuleta has made waves not only in the local market, but also in the digital and global arenas.

Since its February 20 premiere, the program and related phrases and Twitter hashtags have cropped up on micro-blogging and social networking site Twitter. “Oh My Josh Bradley”, “David Archuleta in Bunny Suit”, “Run Josh Bradley Run”, “Nandito Ako Week 2”, and “David Archuleta is Josh Bradley” have fared consistently well in Twitter trending topics, both in the Philippines and worldwide, including Malaysia, Vietnam, and several states in America. Josh Bradley is Archuleta’s character in the TV drama.

Through Pilipinas Global Network (PGN), TV5’s international expansion, Nandito Ako has also attracted the OFW (overseas Filipino worker/s) and international audiences, including non-Filipino fans of Archuleta.
Nandito Ako stars Archuleta in a triange with TV5’s homegrown actresses Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero. The series airs weeknights at 9pm on TV5.
