Filipino Marvel comics artist to speak at Kidlat 2012

THE PHILIPPINES, APRIL 16, 2012: Filipino comic book artist Carlo Pagulayan, who has worked for Marvel and Dark Horse Comics, will be joining the Creative Guild of the Philippines and Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas’ Kidlat Festival 2012 as a speaker.

Pagulayan broke into the business as a contributor to Dark Horse Comics’ WTC Tribute Book, a charitable 9/11 project. He later landed Marvel assignments such as Elektra after submitting a pinup of the character. He has since worked on Marvel’s Academy X, Emma Frost, Marvel Adventures Fantastic 4 and most notably on Marvel’s Planet Hulk event with Greg Pak. After which he had gone to design Hulk’s son Skaar, paired up with Bendis to bring Avengers Annual #2 and then lent his hand bringing back Agents of Atlas with Jeff Parker.

He has also ventured into sculpting and in partnership with Bowen Designs released a Planet Hulk mini bust, with a few more to follow. Pagulayan holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and worked as a supervisor in a semiconductor factory before breaking into comics.
