Universal McCann appoints new AVP

Manila – Universal McCann Philippines announced the appointment of Alvin M. Bangay as Assistant Vice President, taking on two concurrent roles: as Globe Telecom AOR Director and UM Investment Director, exercising management oversight over media buying operations.

Bangay’s appointment strengthens the agency’s pool of talent resources.

Of Bangay, Universal McCann’s Managing Director Dino Laurena says, “With the breadth of experience that Alvin has in the media industry I am certain that he will add great value to our Universal McCann team in further evolving our capabilities as an innovative media organization.” â€¨

Bangay brings with him over 13 years of industry experience. He began with an account management stint at Saatchi before shifting his career towards media specialization at Basic Advertising and moving on to JWT, where he was part of the team that launched WPP Mindshare Philippines.

At Mindshare, Bangay handled various regional and local accounts like Ford Motor, Shell Petroleum, IBM and oversaw the media AOR assignment for Warner-Lambert/Pfizer. In 2003, Bangay moved to Zenith Optimedia to lead the Nestle account.  While working with Bangay on a Nestle project, McCann spotted his talent.

Prior to joining Universal McCann however, Bangay took a detour for a year to become General Manager of Euro Asia Media Group, the production company that created, developed, and produced branded content shows “Camera Café” and “U Women”, aired in GMA 7 and QTV 11.
