Ghouls, zombies, dragons haunt adobo Run After Dark 3

MANILA, OCTOBER 22, 2012 – The ADOBO RUN AFTER DARK 3 was the place to be last Saturday, as the SM Mall of Asia complex was transformed into a site of fun and excitement as only adobo magazine knows how.

As early as two hours before gun start, eager runners, partygoers and music lovers converged at the IMAX parking lot, where a carnival atmosphere permeated the air. Everywhere one looked was a hive of activity, whether at the numerous sponsor booths showcasing their wares and handing out freebies, or the main stage, where fire dancers and a steel drum band got the crowd in the mood for the night ahead.

Social entrepreneur Illac Diaz, proudly ran for his MyShelter Foundation’s ‘A Liter of Light’ initiative, the event’s beneficiary for the second year running. Established in 2001, MyShelter Foundation has been a leader in promoting long term, sustainable housing and lighting solutions for the underprivileged. Since its launch at last year’s adobo Run After Dark 2, ‘A Liter of Light’, has gained global recognition and support through the United Nations and has seen production of over 200,000 solar bulbs in 30 countries.

As event host Rovilson Fernandez facilitated the gun start for the three race categories, Lakihan Mo Logo 21 kicked off the party with Banda ni Kleggy’s Kleggy and Underground Logic’s Syke serving as the uproarious masters of ceremony. The trio were kept busy, as a full program of entertainment was scheduled simultaneously in multiple stages with performances from Pedicab, 6Cyclemind,Tanya Markova, Tarsius, Duster, The Discoball, Halik ni Gringo, Ernville, Banda ni Kleggy and Ultra Marine Weather regaling the crowd amidst spectacular fireworks displays and ice cold, free flowing Manila Beer.

As the only night run in the country doubling as a Halloween party and concert, runners and musical guests tried to outdo each other in their craziest, wildest costumes. As indie rockers Halik ni Gringo brought the house down in full cowboy and superhero regalia, runners looking to beat their personal times took to the race course dressed as the Mario Sisters, zombies, and other assorted characters, cheered on by mascots from event partner Meralco. The Best Costume award was brought home by Jerome Estropia who showed up to the race as a full-sized, smoke bellowing dragon!

As the night wore on, music and beer continued to flow. The party was only interrupted by the much-awaited announcement of the race winners by Rovilson and Illac who were joined onstage by adobo magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Angel Guerrero and COO Janelle Squires.
