THE PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 2011: The IP Coalition presents “IP: Your Competitive Edge”, a seminar on the business impact of Intellectual Property (IP) on October 27, 1 to 5pm at the Windows Theatre – Microsoft Philippines, 16F 6750 Ayala Office Tower, Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
In a digital world flattened by the internet where small and big businesses are able to compete head-to-head, Intellectual Property is an important, strategic asset. In fact, IP is now seen as the common thread that binds the greatest business success stories, here and abroad.
Like all assets, IP can be leveraged and converted into revenue but only if it is recognized, accounted for, understood and protected.
This seminar aims to explain Intellectual Property within the context of business; covering the basics of intellectual property and introducing the participants to how IP can translate into business gains or losses. Completion of this seminar satisfies the first requirement in becoming an IP Icon & earning the IP Seal.
Seminar topics include IP definitions, infringement, laws, and playing IP to your advantage.
Speakers are John Lesaca, a world-renowned and multi-awarded instrumentalist, and Atty. Jun Rodriguez, IP activist. Lesaca plays a different tune as he talks about his personal encounters with piracy, intellectual property theft and their impact on his profession. Rodriguez, a legal practitioner and a professor of law with numerous attendances in international fora on intellectual property rights shares his expertise and introduces participants to IP 101 for Business.
