JWT Asia moves up Doctoroff, Harris and Maedel

ASIA-PACIFIC, SEPTEMBER 19, 2012 – JWT worldwide chairman/CEO has announced a leadership restructure in the agency’s Asian operations.

Tom Doctoroff will be assuming the chief executive role of JWT Asia-Pacific, effective by the end of this year. He will be overseeing JWT’s operations in Northeast and Southeast Asia, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand.

Doctoroff started his advertising career at Leo Burnett but moved to JWT in 1992. He has since been appointed to Asian operations, serving several leadership roles in China and Japan. He was North Asia CEO prior to the promotion.

JWT India CEO Colvyn Harris will be succeeding South Asia CEO Michael Maedel, who will be moving up as non-executive chairman for Asia.

Harris’ management scope extends to Sri Lanka and Nepal, and JWT’s Indian companies including Contract Advertising, Hungama Digital Services, JWT Mindset and Encompass. He has been with JWT for 33 years.

Maedel is bringing 40 years of advertising experience, 22 spent in leadership roles, to his new advisory role until he retires in 2014.

Maedel says he looks forward to working with Doctoroff and Harris and that he’s “had the real pleasure of charting a course for our company in some of the world’s most dynamic regions through periods which have seen our industry go through some pretty seismic changes”.

The worldwide CEO is confident that with the combined experiences of Doctoroff and Harris, JWT Asia is “uniquely positioned to maximize growth”.
