MasterCard appoints merchant marketing head for Asia Pacific

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, AUGUST 14, 2013 – MasterCard has appointed Marcus Mak as the new head of merchant marketing for the company’s Asia/Pacific, Middle East & Africa regions (APMEA), tapping him to deliver more dynamic and value driven propositions to merchants.

Singapore-based Mak will drive business strategy for key merchants and his core responsibility will be to build regional merchant marketing strategies for card acceptance and usage.

Prior to joining MasterCard, Mak held leadership roles in payments-related companies, managing areas such as co-brand products, cross border, merchant acceptance and merchant relations. His experience spans 18 years across Asia Pacific, Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In his most recent posting, he was responsible for leading co-brand product management and driving cross border business. He also had a management role in the traveler cheques business overseeing Southeast Asia.
