GLOBAL, FEBRUARY 14, 2012: Keeping with its tradition of making “doodles”, special executions of its home page during special occasions, historic events, and birthdays of scientists and artists, Google has released a doodle for this day of hearts.
The Google Doodle for Valentine’s day is an animated story of unrequited love, at least at first. With Tony Bennet’s “Cold, Cold Heart” playing in the background, a girl keeps refusing a boy’s advances and expressions of adoration, until, in the end, he does the only thing she ever wanted him to do.
The clip ends with pictures of six more couples – a man and an alien, a girl and a frog, a cat and a dog, an interracial couple, a gay male couple, and a chocolate chip cookie and milk – representing the different forms and expressions of love, even as it transcends cultures and generations.
