MANILA, JULY 29, 2013 – All eyes are looking forward to the feature film Rekorder, which was directed and written by Mikhail Red (pictured), son of renowned director-cinematographer, Raymond Red.

The movie Rekorder is one of the finalists for the New Breed Category in Cinemalaya 2013, the main competition category of the annual film festival. It tells a story of Maven, a former 1980’s film cameraman who in the present time, works as a movie pirate in Manila. He sneaks a digital camcorder inside movie theaters then illegally records the films. The climax of the story started when he the unusual footage he recorded one night became viral.

Co-written with Ian Victoriano and edited online by welovepost, the movie showed not just the evolution but also the reality in the film industry. It utilized mixed media in several digital formats, as well as shifting perspectives in a post-modern narrative. “It shows how cinema has evolved into the new formats of the modern age and is bastardized through piracy,” said Red in a newspaper interview.
