Move Collective, Karim Rashid comes up with filtered water bottles

MANILA, MAY 17, 2013 – Industrial designer Karim Rashid has collaborated in 2010 with New York-based company Move Collective LLC to introduce bobble, an innovative reusable water bottle that further filters water as consumers drink.

As with many other inventions, bobble was born out of necessity. Rashid initially began working with Move Collective to design luggage. At some point, he suggested they make a special water bottle for travelers. A year later, the luggage project was dropped, and the company focused on producing the water bottle.

“I travel constantly and the bobble came about from my frustration with airport security and not being able to bring bottled water with me,” he said. “So I suggested the idea of a built-in filet so I can basically dump out the water and refill it on the other side of security."

Available in six different colors, magenta, red, yellow, green, blue and black, bobble helps alleviate the litter problem. One bobble is equivalent to 300 single-use plastic bottles, helping consumers protect the environment by reducing the use of PET products. The product is already available in more than 30 countries, including the Philippines.

Filipinos can now get their own bottles by visiting the bobble bar kiosk at R3 Level, Power Plant Mall.
