MSAP holds ‘one big media day’ on Jan 28; first media congress will ‘Embrace the Media Revolution’

MANILA, JANUARY 25, 2013 – The Media Specialist Association of the Philippines promises “no one will be left in the office” when it hosts its first-ever Media Congress on Monday, January 28.

The congress will also serve as a launch event for the Advertising Board’s youngest member, which has created a full-day program aimed at planners, buyers and strategists for all media touch points from media agencies and media departments of ad agencies.

Slated for next week at Resorts World’s Newport Theatre, the congress is themed ‘Brave New World: Embracing the Media Revolution’. “It’s going to be one big media day,” said MSAP vice president Angelito ‘BoyP’ Pangilinan.

He identified the CEO Forum, which will bring together the regional leaders of the major media agency networks, as the highlight of the congress. Media leaders in attendance will include Mark Patterson, GroupM Asia Pacific CEO, Mediabrands Asia president Prashant Kumar, Aegis Media Asia Pacific CEO Nick Waters, and Vivaki COO Malcolm Hanlon.

Campaigns & Grey’s chairman Yolanda Villanueva-Ong will moderate the forum, fielding questions to spark discussion around issues highlighted by the day’s speakers.

Program speakers will cover all media touchpoints:

• Donald Lim, managing director of MRM Worldwide, for digital
• Santi Elizalde, VP for marketing at Manila Broadcasting Corporation, for radio
• Vergel Santos, chairman of editorial board at BusinessWorld, for print
• Carlo Katigbak, chief operating officer of SkyCable Corporation (under ABS-CBN), for television
• Bunny Aguilar, head of communication channels at Globe Telecom, for out-of-home.

The congress is open for free to media staff in agencies, while a fee of 2,500 pesos covering registration, lunch and refreshments will be charged for other delegates.

Pangilinan has targeted attendance of 1,000. He believes the congress’ content and the presence of media staff from the agencies in one venue will attract attendance from clients and media vendors.

ABS-CBN had signed on at press-time as a sponsor of the event.
