THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 23, 2012: To pump up the viewing public for the upcoming 25th Kids Choice Awards (KCA), Nickelodeon Philippines will host an exclusive preview party on April 13 at Cinema 5 of Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center.
On its 25th birthday, Nickelodeon KCA will be hosted by blockbuster actor and award-winning singer Will Smith. Pop superstar Katy Perry and UK teen pop group One Direction are only among the few acts to pump up the volume and present the awards to the kids and tweens’ best choice in music, acting, and programming.
In the running for the KCA’s newest category – Favorite Asian Act – is Charice, the Filipino singing sensation who took the world by storm by her powerful singing voice. Charice’s career began with a YouTube video, which then became appearances in internationally famous TV programs including The Ellen Degeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. Most recently, she had a guest starring role in the musical-drama show Glee as exchange student Sunshine Corazon.
Charice will be up against other music acts from the region, including South Korea’s The Wonder Girls, Malaysia’s Yuna, and Indonesia’s Agnes Monica. Nicksters can still cast their votes for the musicians, actors, and shows/movies that they think deserve the KCA blimp until March 31, by logging on to kca.nick-asia.com/vote.
Kids can also score invites to the preview party by answering the question “Why do you deserve to attend the Preview Party?” Participants may email the answer to nickster@nick-asia.com along with complete contact details until March 23.
The annual Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards will be held on March 31 at the University of Southern California Galen Center in L.A., and will be aired in the Philippines on April 14, at 10:00 a.m.
