Petron Corporation initiated to Anvil Hall of Fame

MANILA, MARCH 7, 2013 – Petron Corporation claimed the highest honors at the 48th Anvil Awards, dubbed as the "Oscars of Philippine PR", earning a place at the Anvil Hall of Fame for 12 years of design excellence with ‘Vision Petron collaterals’.

Everyone’s Vision Petron National Student Art Competition is held every year to encourage artistic excellence among Filipino students across all regions, promoting Philippine culture and art. A set of collaterals accompanies the call for entries, taking on a new look with each new theme.

The Anvil Hall of Fame is awarded to an organization that wins the Grand Anvil, Bronze Anvil and Award of Excellence five times, not necessarily for the similar program or category nor in consecutive years. There have only been three Hall of Fame winners in Anvil history, including San Miguel Corporation and the Ayala Group of Companies.

Vision Petron received its first Bronze Anvil Award of Excellence through its first set of collaterals, which depicted indigenous Philippine games. Since then it has secured several Awards of Excellence almost every year. This year, apart from the Anvil Hall of Fame, Petron received one Award of Merit for its Right Moves 2011 Sustainability Report and six Awards of Excellence for various tools and programs.

The Grand Anvil, given to a PR program that surpasses all entries, was not awarded this year.

The Bronze Anvil was bestowed on Sun Life Financial for ‘Experience Sun Shorts’, EON for the Philippine hosting of the 45th ADB Annual Meeting, and Studio 5 Designs, Inc for ‘The Future Begins Here’ DLSU Centennial coffee table book.

Smart Communications emerged as the most awarded company with seven Anvil Awards of Merit and seven Anvil Awards of Excellence for various PR tools and programs. ABS-CBN led the media network tally with seven Anvils, TV5 snagged three.

There were a total of 387 entries submitted, with close to 140 PR tools and programs awarded. Media heavyweight Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Worldwide Asia Pacific, chaired the 48th Anvil Awards board of jurors.

"Having judged many awards at local, regional and global levels, I must admit that there were many entries [to the Anvil Awards] that demonstrate great strategy backed by excellence in execution and had strong positive outcomes as evidence," said Mohan. "It was also great to see that entries were submitted by diverse companies and agencies which were not necessarily pure PR agencies as it helps put more work into the pot and uplifts the standards for the whole industry."
