MANILA, JANUARY 21, 2013 – Last year’s boom of ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ memes and AVPs seems to be only the beginning of a real tourism revolution in the Philippines.
Created by creative agency BBDO Guerrero for the Department of Tourism, the ubiquitous claim is gaining more clout as a Chinese broadsheet, the Shanghai Morning Post bestowed the country an award for being the “Most Romantic Destination”, based on a consumer survey.
The awarding ceremony was held on January 15 at the posh Shanghai Peninsula Hotel by the Bund.
Consul General Charles C. Jose received the award, which was presented by Mme. Liu Sha, editor-in-chief, on January 15. He was accompanied to the event by Niel Ballesteros of the Philippine Tourism Office in Shanghai.
January 9 saw another award given to the Philippines, “Best Tourist Destination” award, which was given by the Oriental Morning Post during its annual World Travel – special trips awards.
