SPT Networks brings new thrilling U.S. series to Asia with its acquisition of The Blacklist and The Hero first-run rights

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE , AUGUST 26, 2013— Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks, Asia has acquired the exclusive, first-run rights for the highly-anticipated suspense thriller The Blacklist starring the Emmy clad James Spader, and The Hero, an epic adventure reality competition featuring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.Both series will premiere in the final quarter of 2013, adding to SPT Networks’ exciting programming lineup.
 
“Viewers across Asia have come to love and expect cutting-edge entertainment from our channels,” said Hui Keng Ang, senior vice president  for operations at SPT Asia Produced by Davis Entertainment Company in association with Sony Pictures Television, The Blacklist follows former U.S. government agent Raymond “Red” Reddington (Spader), who for decades has been one of the FBI’s Most Wanted fugitives. The twist of the series starts when he surrenders to the FBI offering his help to catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to an amateur FBI profiler Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Boone). Also starring are Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold and Ilfenesh Hadera.
 
In The Hero, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson hosts an epic adventure reality competition testing the strength, courage, and integrity of a group of nine individuals of different walks of life from across the U.S. Each week, the contestants face physical, mental and moral trials to prove that they deserve the title of "The Hero" and the life-changing grand prize that accompanies it.  And in the end, America’s audience decide who will be The Hero.
