MANILA – November 27, 2013 – Christmas shopping might just be the most stressful thing about the season, and a new McDonald’s ad by Leo Burnett highlights it.
In the ad for its Holiday Sweet Pleasures ice cream line, a young woman is shown getting caught up in and bogged down by the crowds, impossibly long lines, and heavy shopping bags that come with the territory of Christmas shopping.
For an extra touch of irony, the ad is set to what is perhaps the most cheerful Christmas tune, "It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," though in the end, the song’s chorus still rings true as the woman sets down her shopping bags, stretches her legs, and rewards herself with a salted caramel sundae.
The ad started airing on November 4, but was taken off the air after Typhoon Yolanda. It resumed broadcast on November 25.
