TV5 launches a barrage of new programs for 2012’s first quarter

THE PHILIPPINES, FEBRUARY 15, 2012: The “undisputed number 3”, as dubbed by its own chairman Manny Pangilinan during the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress, local television station TV5 is starting off the 2012 with a slew of new programs as it continues to play catch-up with rival bigwigs ABS-CBN 2 and GMA 7.

“TV5 is a major network,” said Ray Espinosa, president and CEO of the “Kapatid” network, during the press launch of their newest program offerings for the first quarter of 2012. TV5 promises “more, more, more” for their viewers – more shows with more quality, originality, and excitement, as it lives up to its brand as “the happy network”.

In the lineup are news and public affairs programs “Good Morning Club” (which started airing last February 6), “Insider”, and “Pilipinas News”; TV series and dramas “Valiente”, “Nandito Ako”, “Felina”, and “Isang Dakot na Luha”; reality programs and competitions “Extreme Makeover Home Edition”, “The Amazing Race Philippines”, “Temptation Island”, “Kanta Pilipinas”, and “Dancing Nation”; game shows “Game and Go”, “The Biggest Game Show in the World”, and “Toink! Sino ang Tama”; sitcom “Kapitan Awesome”; and talk show “Sharon”.

In 2011, in a bid to further boost ratings and create new content, TV5 signed several big actors and actresses to its roster of talents, including “Superstar” Nora Aunor, “Mega Star” Sharon Cuneta in a rumored PHP 1bn deal, and most recently, David Archuleta of American Idol fame, who will star in one of the network’s newest TV mini-series Nandito Ako.
