Yahoo! former communications head joins IPG Mediabrands

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, APRIL 10, 2013 – IPG Mediabrands has appointed Madhavi Tumkur, formerly regional communications head for Yahoo! Southeast Asia, as Head of Integrated Communications in the World Markets Asia cluster, effective immediately.

 
Tumkur is tasked with managing IPG Mediabrands’ communications across the Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Korean and Taiwan markets that incorporate the World Markets Asia cluster, overseeing external and internal communications, messaging and image and reputation management in the region. He will be based out of the Singapore office.
 
She brings an extensive array of skills from working across strategic communications, copywriting and journalism fields in the past 15 years, having held a key strategic communications post with Cathay Pacific for five years, working closely with management to guide the company through the Asian Economic Crisis of the late 1990s. She knows the media industry intimately after reporting on digital, social and mobile trends in marketing as the Editor of Campaign in Singapore and for the past two years has been managing communications for Yahoo! across five diverse markets in Southeast Asia, managing media relations, conceptualizing campaigns and boosting the company profile in the region.

Tumkur’s appointment follows the promotion of Genevieve Loriant, formerly the head of PR & communications for IPG Mediabrands in APAC, to the role of Head of PR in the G14 cluster that includes Australia, Benelux, Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Spain and the UK.
