Y&R Hong Kong reintroduces pharmacists as the community’s friends

ASIA-PACIFIC – HONG KONG, SEPTEMBER 2, 2013 – The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Hong Kong has tied up with Y&R Hong Kong for a campaign tapping people’s consciousness about the pharmacist’s vital role in community healthcare. Due to the growing population of old aged people from China who are having a substantial affliction on public and private healthcare,  The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Hong Kong (SHPHK) wishes to emphasize the pharmacists’ role as friendly individuals in the society offering a solution to their burden.

The campaign includes a mini movie shot from the perspective of a community pharmacist, May. The film shows how medicine and care are essential to patients’ security through May,who is a daughter of a patient who did not obey to his medication.

Y&R regional business director Pierre Loo explains: “The challenge lay in the fact that Hong Kong people are unfamiliar with pharmacists’ actual role. They tend to rely heavily on doctors and nurses in hospitals and see pharmacists only as a medicine retail outlet, hence the new ‘To Cure with Medicine. To Heal with Love’ campaign was produced to raise awareness of the pharmacist’s role, to build affinity between communities and pharmacists, and to encourage a wider use of pharmacists services within neighborhoods.”
