MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Ace Saatchi & Saatchi managed to bag the lone Philippine gold in Spikes Asia Awards for their NUJP Masked Media campaign.
Aside from a Gold Spike, the press freedom campaign for the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines also bagged a Bronze and a shortlist in the Direct categories.
Masked Media took masks made ubiquitous by the pandemic and designed them to raise awareness for press repression while their sale raised money for the legal defense fund. It is a press freedom campaign that literally helps press people regain their freedom.
“It is one of the projects close to the heart of the team since it mirrors our personal advocacies,” says Cloe Espano-Aguirrechea, Client Services Director.
“I am still amazed by the potential power of what we do,” said Caye Paras, Creative Director. “May this win continue to amplify what NUJP stands for and take us closer to the most important win, our country’s press freedom.”
“Masked Media is our tribute to the brave warriors of journalism, who are out there every day to bring the truth in the face of a fragile democracy”, said Mio Chongson, President & COO.
“To us, Masked Media is more than a campaign”, said Greg Martin III, Executive Creative Director. “It is, to borrow the words of a 2021 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, our way of holding the line.”
