London-based th1ng expands into USA with a New York office

GLOBAL – LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, MARCH 6, 2012: Award-winning British production company th1ng (pronounced “thing one”) Corp. is out to charm the United States market, with its recent expansion move in New York. th1ng has been active in the States for three years with major clients including Leo Burnett, Grey, and Digitas.

 
The new production office and studio in Soho will be headed by Bill Hewes, who joins th1ng from Filmtecknarna, whose directors will now be represented by th1ng in the USA, United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
 
Hewes is a 15-year industry veteran, with extensive experience in production and post-production. He previously served as executive producer in Digital Kitchen, New York and spent three years at Filmtecknarna, also as executive producer, before joining th1ng. Hewes will report to th1ng Corp.’s CEO and founder Dominic Buttimore. “I am delighted to be heading th1ng’s operation in New York. The business has already made great strides here and I am relishing the opportunity to put th1ng on the map by introducing our directors to clients in advertising, film, television and creative services,” said Hewes.
 
Buttimore added: “Opening here with Bill Hewes greatly increases the skills and services available to our growing client base in the US. We are delighted that Bill has brought the talent of Filmtecknarna under our US and London wings.”
 
th1ng Corp. is composed of four companies, each catering to the different needs of the marketer. th1ng creates animated commercials, new media, and main title sequences; th2ng (“thing two”) is for live action commercials; Film Club introduces film animation directors to ad agencies; and Flux provides broadcast design. Aside from its directorial and design talent, th1ng Corp. also provides production and support staff, full-time editors, creative and compositing teams.
