Pinoy film ‘On the Job’ wins in Korea

 MANILA, AUGUST 5, 2013- Two major awards were awarded at the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival held in South Korea last July 28.   

Filipino veteran actor, Joel Torre won the Best Actor award for his character as an assassin named ‘Tatang’ for the film ‘On the Job’. The film directed by Revolver Studios’ Erik Matti, was also awarded as the Jury’s Choice. The film was produced by Production house Reality and Star Cinema. 
 
‘OTJ’ is a story based on reality wherein it says a lot about Philippine politics and society. ABS-CBN actor, Gerald Anderson is named Daniel is an escaped inmate that became a ‘hitman’ while Piolo Pascual is an NBI agent who will hunt Daniel. His character is confused with his duty because of his conscience and family. The film was also included in the 66th Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight and has a deal with Well Go USA. Theyr released the film on DVD/Blu-Ray and made it available on Video on Demand or VOD. 
 
The Pinoy film was one of the 12 films included in the official competition. The film ‘Sightseers’ won the Best Puchon and Alice Lowe for Best Actress, while Best Director was awarded to Indian film director Anurag Kashyap for the film ‘Ugly’ and ‘Secretly Greatly’, a South Korean comedy drama film won the NH Nonghyup Citizen’s Choice. 
 
Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFAN) has been a film representative of Puchon City. The city has always been known for its rich history in the world of producing classic cartoons, animations, and games.  Today, the festival is showcasing dynamic films from all over the world.
