Nielsen Philippines managing director resigns

THE PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 31, 2012: Nielsen Company Philippines’ Jay Bautista resigned from his post as managing director effective today after 19 years of service. Bautista refused to disclose where he will move on. No word yet on his replacement. 

 
In 1993, Bautista worked in the Philippine Monitoring Services as a marketing assistant for the company’s advertising expenditure service. A year later, the company was acquired by ACNielsen and he became part of the media research business unit handling client service responsibilities. 
 
Bautista became part of the team that enhanced the Metro Manila coverage to Mega Manila and introduced key city TV ratings services in Dagupan, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao supported by the industry from TV networks (ABS and GMA), major advertisers (Unilever and P&G) including all the major media agencies at that time. Bautista’s team also led the expansion of media research products and services like radio diary ratings in 2002, national readership and single source studies in 2006, mobile media surveys in 2008 and recently the roll out of Nielsen’s online research products in partnership with organizations like Yahoo! among others.
 
In 2011, Bautista became managing director for media to integrate Nielsen’s media assets (TV audience measurement and media research services) in support of the company’s 360 degree strategy.
 
During his last few years in the company, he has been an active resource person on the state of the media research in the Philippines speaking in various forums and academic institutions.
 
Bautista has also participated in organizations such as the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines as a director and past president. He also served as director of the Advertising Board of the Philippines.
