MANILA, APRIL 22, 2013 – Globe Tattoo has just launched the Tatt Awards 2013. Now on its third year, the Tatt Awards endeavors to recognize those who excel at social media to effect positive change in their communities and in the digital space.
This year, winners will be selected in the following categories:
• Blogger Phenom of the Year
• Trending Twitter Phenom of the Year
• YouTube Phenom of the Year
• Instagram Phenom of the Year
• Best Social Media Movement
• Best Comedy on YouTube
• Best Music on YouTube
• Best Style Blog
• Best Sports Blog or Microblog
• Best Tech Blog or Podcast
• Best Photoblog or Microblog
• Best Travel or Food Blog
A user-generated thirteenth category, one featuring the most relevant unique nominees, will be determined by voters.
Tatt Awards winners are selected by a special panel organized for the purpose, the Tatt Council, composed of social media mavens. On the 2013 Tatt Council sit Tattoo Nomadic Broadband Business Head Dong Ronquillo; Rappler CEO Maria Ressa; Abe Olandres of Yugatech.com fame; Our Awesome Planet founder Anton Diaz; OPM advocate Jim Paredes; top model Joey Mead-King; photographer BJ Pascual; comedian and former Tatt Awardee Mikey Bustos; TV personality and co-Tatt Award winner Bianca Gonzales; Mashable’s Bianca Consunji, and sports analyst TJ Manotoc.
The Council will select winners based on quality of content (40 percent), social media impact (20 percent) and relevance of content to the category (10 percent). Social media engagement and influence based on the number of fans, subscribers and followers (20 percent) and public voting (10 percent) round out the criteria.
Anybody with a Facebook, Twitter or Google account can nominate anyone or any website of their choice for any of the categories. Nominations will be accepted until the end of June; public voting will begin on June 23, and the winners announced at the end of June. Major category winners will receive PhP100,000 and special award winners PhP50,000.
