Celestial Tiger Entertainment brings Hong Kong shows to Singapore viewers

HONG KONG – October 14, 2013 – Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has launched cHK, a new general entertainment channel that offers the latest blockbusters, celebrity-driven infotainment, lifestyle shows, and late-night programs and dramas.

 
The linear channel will launch in Singapore on SingTel mio TV on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m., and the on-demand channel the day after. The cHK will be shown in Mandarin, but viewers will have the option to watch the channel in the original Cantonese audio track on cHK On Demand. 
 
"We are excited to partner with SingTel mio TV to bring their customers a new choice in Hong Kong entertainment. Hong Kong is known for its exciting movies, television programs, food, fashion, and bustling nightlife. With cHK, we are packaging all this entertainment into one contemporary, celebrity-powered channel, in high definition," said Todd Miller, CTE chief executive officer.
 
"SingTel mio TV is an ideal home for cHK. We look forward to entertaining mio TV’s growing subscriber base with a unique blend of Hong Kong entertainment, never before aired in Singapore," he added. 
 
SingTel’s Managing Director, TV, Goh Seow Eng said  "we are delighted to be the first in Singapore to launch this channel, a welcome new addition to mio TV’s Asian content suite, which already features a stellar line-up of channels."
 
"We launched cHK in response to consumer requests, as many have indicated their interest in quality content from Hong Kong. Our self-packaged Jia Le channel, which also screens content in its original dialect, is consistently one of our most watched channels and we believe cHK will quickly become just as popular," he said.
 
Movies, dramas, celebrity info-tainment in program line-up
 
cHK will launch with a line up of programs in a variety of genres. For movies, cHK will premiere the martial arts action epic, The Guillotines, and Young and Dangerous: Reloaded, the 2013 remake of the iconic Hong Kong franchise starring heartthrob Him Law. Both movies will premiere on cHK’s Saturday Night Blockbuster program block at 9:00pm.
 
Besides movies, cHK offers viewers celebrity-powered infotainment. cExpress, a weekly round-up of Hong Kong’s juiciest happenings and showbiz gossip, will air on Mondays and Fridays at 7 p.m. Then on Sundays at 7:30 p.m., audiences can tune in to Star Chatroom, a one-on-one interview hosted by veteran entertainment reporter Wang Man Ling. Stars interviewed in October include actress Yoyo Meng, comedy king Chapman To, and veteran actor Felix Wong.
 
Another new celebrity-based program is Loving Pets, airing Saturdays at 8pm, a one hour tribute to stars and their animal companions. Hosted by award-winning television star Bernice Liu and personalities Zoie Tam and Jim Kwong, Loving Pets not only showcases celebrities’ furry friends, but also features pet trainers offering helpful advice.
 
cHK also brings viewers an abundance of food-related programs. On October 20, cHK will premiere Master Chef: Martin Yan (Sundays at 8:00pm), a 12-episode series hosted by the award-winning cookas he takes you on a journey to his hometown to discover the origins of his cooking. Chef Yan will also introduce viewers to famous local restaurants and how to use fresh local ingredients to prepare delicious meals. 
 
On cHK’s Sunday Night Drama program block at 9:00pm, viewers will be treated to dramas never-seen-before in Singapore. On October 20, cHK will premiere SFC in Action 1 and 2, a crime drama that delves into the world of white collar criminals and the team at the Securities & Futures Commission tasked to bring them to justice. Starring Kwong Wa, Jade Leung, Bernice Liu, and Karena Ng, SFC in Action lifts the curtains on insider trading, market manipulation and securities fraud.
 
cHK can be viewed on channel 510 and cHK On Demand on channel 511on SingTel mio TV.  Both channels will be added to the Jingxuan+ Pack – which features over 20 channels from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and China – at no extra charge.
