UP JMA rocks music and marketing with “INDIEmand”

PHILIPPINES – The worlds of music and marketing collided at the annual Major Marketing Event of the UP Junior Marketing Association (UP JMA) last September 25. Entitled “INDIEmand,” the competition to market independent bands saw 50 teams from colleges all over Metro Manila battle it out in the eliminations for a chance to win a trips to Boracay and a cash prize of P50,000.00.

Five teams made it to the finals: Ateneo’s Team Vis Vires, composed of Dianna Alarilla, Phil Disini, Drew Copoyuc, Dennis Tan, and Karllo Mayordomo; University of Santo Tomas’ Team UST-5, made up of Krishia Manay, Jerrimae Parangue, Khrizia Sarmiento, Kaye Sordan, and Isabela Martinez; University of the Philippines – Diliman’s TEAMbaland, with Michelle Molas, Eana Cubacub, Bam Santos, Jowee Caraso, and Kristine Erni; IndieGo!, the group of Rose Sagun, Ghea Orleans, Wendy Hsieh, Riz Panagdato and Hazel Tan; and Marck Cura and the Groupies, which included Marck Cura, Aimee Bacallan, Kara Ortiga, Sarah Wu and Trisha Zayco.
Supporters got to vote for their favorite teams online through Sun Broadband Prepaid during the music-filled culminating night at Teatrino, Greenhills Promenade.

Team Vis Vires won third place for its work for Kuwago, Marck Cura and the Groupies won second place for its presentation for Hidden Nikki, and TEAMbaland took home the top prize for the marketing plan for the band Tonight We Sleep.
