Dr. Oetker brings Christmas magic to life in Tobias Fouracre’s stop motion film

LONDON, UK – Partizan director Tobias Fouracre brings a fresh, playful twist to the Christmas ad tradition in Dr. Oetker’s new festive film. The spot introduces Ginger, a newly baked gingerbread character who wakes into a whimsical Christmas world—a landscape lovingly crafted entirely from Dr. Oetker’s baking decorations, sprinkles, icings, and edible glitter.

From the glimmering gingerbread house to the candy-cane forest and snow-dusted hills, Ginger’s world is joyful, handcrafted, and full of discovery. The film leans into classic holiday storytelling: soft winter light, a dreamy music cover, and a wide-eyed hero experiencing the magic of the season for the very first time.

The narrative then shifts with a playful twist — a reveal to a real kitchen where a girl and her grandmother are baking together. The world viewers have been exploring is one they’ve lovingly created, and Ginger becomes the final, joyful touch. A cheeky bite brings the story back to the heart of Christmas: making something for someone you love.

“I’ve always wanted to direct a stop-motion Christmas commercial, so it’s not an exaggeration to say that this was a dream come true. I’m not a great fan of sentimentality though… so this Christmas ad, with a sting in its tail, ticked both boxes,” says director Tobias Fouracre.

The film showcases stop-motion at its most charming—tactile, characterful, and rich with handcrafted detail. Every iced window frame, frosting flourish, and sugar snowfall was built entirely from edible elements by the Partizan Animation team.

“As a team, we had a blast bringing Ginger’s world to life, designing a gingerbread house that looked good enough to eat and a Winter Wonderland packed with intricate details. Tobias captured the whimsical, offbeat humour of it all perfectly,” says Duncan Gaman, Executive Producer at Partizan Studio
