PHILIPPINES – JULY 2011 – It could be Manny Pacquiao’s toughest bout yet. Going up against Wiltime Bigtime‘s Willie Revillame on one corner and The Price is Right‘s Kris Aquino on the other, Pacquiao has entered a new ring: game show hosting.
Manny Many Prizes on GMA 7 marries Pacquiao’s loves outside of boxing: singing and helping the less fortunate. The Sarangani congressman drew crowds to the AFP Theater for the pilot episode of the show, which aired on July 16.
Pacquiao himself is said to dip into his own pockets for the show, which he also co-produces. The biggest prize during the premiere was a house and lot.
Rhian Ramos, Isabelle Daza, Gladys Guevarra, Paolo Contis and fellow boxer Onyok Velasco join the eight-time world title holder, who insists that his mission is to inspire and do good.
It should not be difficult to find advertisers as Pacquiao alone has several endorsements. Then again, Pacquiao on his own could not save his GMA sitcom Show Me the Manny from being axed. Perhaps the biggest challenge is for Pacquiao and Revillame to maintain their friendship.
