Renault India celebrates Independence Day with art installation at Delhi International Airport

NEW DELHI, INDIA – Marking India’s 79th Independence Day with artistic flair, Renault India unveiled a monumental 30 ft x 30 ft hand-painted installation at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3. Conceived as both a tribute to India’s enduring spirit of freedom and a symbol of Renault’s Indo-French identity, the work embodies the brand’s philosophy of Renault.Rethink – a call to challenge convention through design and creativity.

The installation was created in collaboration with the acclaimed artist collective Doodle Mapuls, reinterpreting the grandeur of ancient Indian culture through a contemporary lens. By weaving together iconic Delhi architecture, urban street culture, musical instruments, fashion and youthful expression, the work creates a vibrant pop futuristic narrative that speaks simultaneously to heritage and modernity.

“This installation is more than art; it is a cultural dialogue. It is a heartfelt celebration of India’s vibrant culture, woven seamlessly with Renault’s French design sensibilities.” said Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Renault India. “Unveiling it on Independence Day is our tribute to the spirit of India — a nation rooted in tradition yet constantly reimagining its future.”

Strategically positioned at one of India’s busiest travel hubs, the installation is designed to captivate millions of travellers, offering a moment of pause, reflection and connection. Its placement at Delhi International Airport ensures that the artwork functions as both a cultural greeting to international visitors and a celebration for domestic audiences.

Commenting on the strategic placement and timing, Anisha Iyer, CEO of OMD India, said, “This unveiling was designed to create a deep, genuine connection with the people of India by capturing the nation’s essence as it stands today: entrenched in culture, yet confidently moving forward. By launching it on Independence Day, we’ve made Renault a part of a day that honors India’s past, celebrates its present, and inspires its future, aligning the brand with a sense of collective pride and progress.”

Titled “The New India Frame”, the installation is described by Doodle Mapuls as a reflection of India’s evolving identity – one that bridges the past and the present. Drawing inspiration from miniature art and folk traditions, the work reimagines these classical styles through a bold, progressive visual treatment aligned with global design sensibilities.

Speaking of the work, the team at Doodle Mapuls shared, “The juxtaposition of intricate storytelling with bold, modern composition mirrors Renault’s own ethos: rethinking the familiar to create something dynamic, relevant, and forward-looking. Installed at one of India’s busiest international hubs, this work becomes a cultural greeting to the world, showcasing how India, like Renault, honors its roots while driving toward a reimagined tomorrow.”

Through this initiative, Renault demonstrates how brand expression can transcend conventional advertising and become a cultural touchpoint. The installation not only celebrates heritage but also embodies optimism for the future, signaling Renault’s commitment to engaging India with creativity.
