KFC Philippines launches Buckets of Love campaign with World Food Programme

MANILA – November 28, 2013 – KFC Philippines has launched a campaign in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to relieve the hunger of families in conflict- and disaster-stricken areas.

Through the "Buckets of Love" campaign, P5 from every eight-piece bucket meal and P1 from every one-piece Crispy Butter Chicken meal sold from November 2013 to January 2014 will be donated to the WFP.

The idea is that every time you bring home a bucket to feed your family, you’re helping to feed another in the process.

WFP will direct the proceeds to their efforts in rebuilding communities affected by Typhoon Yolanda, as well as their ongoing projects to relieve hunger in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.

Aside from this, KFC has also activated their stores to accept donations in kind for the Yolanda survivors, which they will turn over to the Philippine Red Cross. Customers can also donate through the coin canisters found in store counters.

The fast-food chain has also launched a microsite, allowing more ways for people to donate. In the interest of transparency, the microsite also has a counter that tallies the number of families helped by the campaign. They will also be making use of their newly-opened Instagram account, kfcphilippines, pledging to donate P100,000 to WFP when they hit 100,000 followers.

KFC has tapped young actor Daniel Padilla to be the face of their Buckets of Love campaign, and have produced a pocket calendar featuring him. 100 percent of the proceeds from the calendar sales will be donated to Yolanda survivors.

"Beyond the so good experiences that we provide our loyal fans through innovative products and one-of-a-kind opportunities, we also make it a point to pay it forward by extending assistance to communities that need our support," said Liza Leah Calma-Junio, general manager for KFC Philippines.

"KFC is a company that values sharing and likewise Filipinos are people who love giving. ‘Buckets of Love’ gives them the channel to share what they have with those who need it most," she added.

The Buckets of Love campaign will run from November 2013 to January 2014. For more information, follow KFC on Twitter @KFCPhilippines or like their Facebook page
