Zurich Malaysia, Ensemble unveil a quieter side of Chinese New Year

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — Ensemble, the full-fledged creative agency under Omnicom Media Malaysia, has partnered with Zurich Malaysia this Chinese New Year to unveil The Two Sides of Festivity, a short film that pays tribute to families navigating the festive season in the absence of loved ones, set against the togetherness of celebration.

The Two Sides of Festivity explores the dual nature of celebration. While laughter and joy fill many homes, others move through the season quietly, faced with the harsh reality of loss. Through the story of a couple celebrating Chinese New Year amid grief, the film bravely captures the emotions many feel but rarely voice. By embracing both sides, Zurich affirms its belief that care is found in steady presence — especially when it matters most.

Christopher Chong, Creative Director of Ensemble, said, “We noticed that most festive campaigns prioritise the high-energy spectacle of celebration, often leaving a quieter, universal truth unsaid. Many move through the season carrying heavy emotions, shaped by reflection, grief, and longing. We wanted to highlight this muted side to respect the reality of many families. Zurich, a brand built on care, felt like the right voice to tell that story.”

Erin Hwang, Head of Brand Marketing & Communications of Zurich Malaysia said, “Sometimes, the most meaningful support is simply knowing that someone sees you, even in the quiet moments. This Chinese New Year, we want Malaysians to feel recognised and reassured in all moments of life. Whether a celebration is loud or quiet, Zurich is there to uphold our promise to ‘Care for What Matters’.”

The Two Sides of Festivity is part of a broader narrative, connected to Zurich’s upcoming Raya campaign film, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to embracing all sides of festivity across cultures. The film is now live across Zurich Malaysia’s YouTube channel.
