Club.MOV presents The Idiot’s Guide to Heartbreak V at the Mogwai Cinematheque

PHILIPPINES – JULY 2011 – Cineastes, prepare for another season of heartache this July as Club.MOV brings to the screen a new slate of films for Part V of The Idiot’s Guide to Heartbreak on July 25 to 28 at the Mogwai Cinematheque, Cubao X, Quezon City. Handpicked by curators Eduardo Dayao, Chard Bolisay, Oggs Cruz, and series founder Khavn De La Cruz, the four films delve into the complexities of falling in love and falling out of love.
 
Starting off the series on July 25 is Happy Together, to be presented by Richard Bolisay of film blog Lilok Pelikula. This film, starring Leslie Cheung and Tony Leung, was directed by acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai. It was released just before the handover in 1997, reflecting on Hong Kong’s past and future by probing masculinity, aggression, identity, and homosexuality. 
 
For July 26, lawyer, film critic, and Berlinale Talent Campus alum Oggs Cruz presents 3-Iron by renowned Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-Duk, which revolves around a young drifter and an abused housewife plus features no dialogue between the two main characters.
 
Tom Tykwer’s The Princess And The Warrior, a story about fate, personal choices, and the events that bring a nurse and a former soldier together will be presented by Dodo Dayao on July 27.
 
Lastly, on July 28, Khavn de la Cruz presents his meditative work on love and farewells, Goodbye My Shooting Star, featuring Meryll Soriano.
 
All screenings are free and begin at 9pm. Mogwai Cinematheque is located at CubaoExpo, Araneta Center, Cubao, Quezon City.
 
Club.MOV screens movies, from mainstream hits to arthouse feature films and shorts, and enables topnotch local and foreign films to become accessible to the Philippine audience.
