MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Acclaimed Filipino contemporary artist Sean Go returns to Asia with his highly anticipated solo exhibition, Colossus, opening September 6, 2025, at León Gallery International in Makati. Following celebrated showcases across Japan, the United States, and Europe, Go’s latest body of work transforms his lifelong fascination with scale into a monumental artistic statement.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by scale,” reveals Go. “It’s a concept that shaped my childhood—the towering T-Rex in Jurassic Park, the sheer force of Godzilla and King Kong smashing through cityscapes, and the epic battles that unfolded on the simple grids of Battleship and Snakes and Ladders. These weren’t just stories; they were a way of understanding my place in a world that often felt too big to comprehend.”

Colossus presents towering works reaching up to seven feet in height and nine feet in width, inviting viewers to experience what it means to feel small, humbled, and in awe. More than reimagining cultural icons of scale, the exhibition seeks to distill their essence: the overwhelming presence that compels us to look up and rediscover wonder.
Central to this vision is Go’s innovative construction technique, developed in collaboration with his brother Mark Go. Each sculpture is composed of 3D printed micromachine-like components, creating intricate, almost mechanical surfaces. Far from polished reproductions, these colossal forms pulse with organic energy, embodying a paradox of scale: tiny parts coalescing into massive beings.

“It’s a paradox: the smallest parts building the biggest creatures,” explains Go.
Go’s works merge the raw dynamism of street art with the narrative traditions of comic books, crafting a visual language that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. This stylistic fusion invites audiences to step into a realm where imagination takes physical form – urban grit meeting pop culture grandeur.

“This show is an invitation to look up, to be humbled, and to rediscover the sense of wonder that comes with facing something monumental,” adds Go. “It’s about the feeling you get when you’re standing at the base of a skyscraper, or when you imagine a dinosaur’s roar echoing through a valley.”
Visit Colossus by Sean Go at León Gallery International, G/F Corinthian Plaza, Makati, from September 6 to 15, 2025.
