ABS-CBN partners with Korean-based CJ O Shopping Corporation to launch new shopping channel

MANILA – October 29, 2013 – ABS-CBN has partnered with Korean-based CJ O Shopping Corporation to launch the O Shopping Channel, which allows viewers to shop for household products from the comfort of their own homes.

The channel has been airing its 24/7 shopping programs since October 15 through SkyCable and Global Destiny Channel 11. It also airs programs on Studio 23 at  5 to 6 a.m. from Mondays to Fridays, and 1 to 2 a.m. from Mondays to Sundays; ABS-CBN Channel 2 after "Banana Nite" from Mondays to Fridays, after "Sports Unlimited" on Saturdays, and after "Sunday’s Best" on Sundays.

According to ABS-CBN Business Development head Paolo Pineda, the channel wants to provide viewers with more opportunities to purchase their lifestyle needs.

"Sometimes people don’t have the chance to go out and shop for themselves for things they need at home. We are offering consumers better service and better options as life becomes more mobile and hectic," he said.

"TV home shopping is not something new to the Filipino consumer. We’ve also noticed the proliferation of online shopping sites which is quite similar to what we want to do, because it’s really about another option to the mall, to your local neighborhood store," Pineda added.

For now, the channel’s product offerings include kitchenware and other home and beauty appliances. The channel also plans to offer products for men and children, and is even considering cosmetic products and apparel.

"The nature of our products is designed for working women and moms at home. We will have products for men, the household in general,  and at some point, even products that cater to children. As we roll out more products, we will cater to the entire family," Pineda said.

"Eventually we will serve what the market will demand. We will find a way to get feedback and comments from people who buy our products, as long as there is interest and a sizeable market," Pineda said.

Payment methods include cash on delivery, mobile POS debit card and credit card (MasterCard and Visa).

Pineda also said that O Shopping will also serve as an additional distribution platform for licensed products under ABS-CBN brands such as Juan dela Cruz, Kris Aquino, and UAAP.

"This is just to complement the existing retail channels that are working with us today," he said.
