Dennis Trillo earns Asia’s top acting honor at AACA 2025

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Multi-awarded Filipino actor Dennis Trillo was named the best in Asia after winning the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for his blockbuster inspirational drama movie Green Bones at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards held recently in Singapore.

Dennis bested top actors across 11 different countries in Asia, including Hollywood actor Jacob Elordi (The Narrow Road to the Deep North) and Korean actor Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines).

“I never expected it to be completely honest considering such a strong roster of co-actors also nominated in the same category,” Trillo shared.

“As a Filipino artist who has done most of his work for local television and cinema, I am just grateful that we are finally breaking the barrier and now able to tell our stories to a wider audience. To have this recognition from our Asian peers is just humbling and inspiring for me.”

In Green Bones, Trillo plays Domingo Zamora, a prisoner up for parole notorious for allegedly murdering his sister and niece. His freedom was already within reach until newbie prison guard Xavier Gonzaga (played by Ruru Madrid) enters the facility and ensures that he stays behind bars.

The movie fared very well in the local box office raking in about $2.3 million. It was also among the most watched titles on Netflix.

Green Bones, produced by GMA Pictures, GMA Public Affairs and Trillo’s very own production company Brightburn Entertainment, also gave him best actor recognitions from prestigious local award-giving bodies such as Gawad Urian, PMPC Star Awards, and the Metro Manila Film Festival.

But more than the commercial success and accolades, the most important and fulfilling thing for Dennis as an actor is how his work impacted the lives of people.

Green Bones’ message to its viewers is simple and that is to be a good person. It feels very rewarding as an actor to be an instrument to send such a powerful message. For them to carry that with them after watching our film and for them to apply it in their lives, gives so much more meaning to my craft.”

Trillo is one of the most celebrated and most respected Filipino actors in Philippine TV and cinema today. Being in the industry for more than 20 years, he already swept recognitions from all major Filipino award-giving bodies (a local equivalent to an EGOT win). Aside from winning the Asian Academy Creative Awards, Trillo also earned recognitions from the Seoul International Drama Awards and Asian TV Awards.

A father of three and married to award-winning actress-singer Jennylyn Mercado, Trillo topbilled top-rating and groundbreaking local TV dramas such as Sanggang Dikit FR, Maria Clara at Ibarra, Pulang Araw, Legal Wives, and My Husband’s Lover.

He also starred in the HBO Original On the Job: Missing 8 that premiered in the 78th Venice International Film Festival back in 2021.

Trillo is currently being represented by his management group Aguila Entertainment (aguilaentertainment.ph). He is also a member of Filipino actor’s guild AKTOR: League of Filipino Actors (aktor.ph).
