BREAKING NEWS: Havas Group appoints Valerie Madon as Chairwoman for Singapore

SINGAPORE – Valerie Cheng-Madon is now the Chairwoman for Singapore of the Havas Group. This is on top of her responsibilities as Chief Creative Officer for Southeast Asia of the Havas Group since 2017.

After earning a degree at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, the first decade of Valerie’s career was spent in digital before turning more towards brand building and creating integrated creative solutions. She did these for major brands including Hewlett-Packard, Procter & Gamble, Singapore Airlines, HSBC, Burger King, VISA, Singapore Tourism Board, Changi Airport, Central Provident Fund, Shell, and many others.

In 2010, Valerie was made the first female chairperson in the history of the Creative Circle Awards Singapore and went on to judge mostly for the Cyber Juries at the Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity 2011, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2011 and 2014, D&AD 2012 and 2015, Clio 2013, One Show 2015 and London International Awards 2013.

Over the years, she has made her mark at Cannes, One Show, London International, Effies, Golden Drum, Spikes Asia, Adfest and the Webby’s. Under her leadership, JWT Singapore picked up the Best Of Show award, at the Creative Circle Awards 2012. They were also awarded Digital Agency of The Year and the Grand Prix for Digital/Mobile on the same evening. 

For all her achievements, Valerie was awarded Singapore’s first Digital Creative Director of The Year award at the 2011 Advertising Hall of Fame event and she continued to defend this title again in 2012. She has also been voted by IAS as one of Singapore’s Most Influential CD for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Valerie’s professional career has taken her in recent years from serving as Chief Creative Officer of J. Walter Thompson Singapore to Head of Creative Shop for Southeast Asia at Facebook in 2015, to a return to agency life in 2017 at Havas.
